Summer Updates
Shabbat services will continue with in-person attendance through the summer! For those still unable to attend in person, we will continue to stream our services on YouTube.
We continue to try to host events outdoors as weather permits, where it is a little safer to socialize unmasked.
We expect all who can be fully vaccinated (3 shots!) to be in order to hasten the end of this pandemic. Regardless of vaccination status, we look to each person of our community to maintain social distance, wear masks when around others, and washing hands regularly to keep themselves and others safe. Doing so fulfills the mitzvah of pekuach nefesh (preserving life).
May the Holy One keep us all safe, healthy, and united as a community.
We are a congregation that supports a wide range of programs and activities for members of all ages.
We are dedicated to preserving the traditions of the past, pledged to serving the spiritual, cultural, educational and social needs of our congregation and the community in the present, and committed to providing innovative and progressive ideas to meet the challenges of the future.
We are a diverse congregation reaching out to all people and making a conscious effort to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome. We welcome everyone who is interested in participating in the lively, vibrant world of Reform Judaism. Judaism stresses community. Ner Shalom is your Jewish community, as well as your extended family in Prince William County, Virginia.
We STRIVE to build a community based on inclusiveness, where everyone is welcome, regardless of race, age, ability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, a Jew by birth or by choice, to seek religious learning and experiences, life cycle rituals, and spiritual guidance.

This is an all-community picnic! Come schmooze with Ner Shalom members and our leadership team, register your kids for Religious School, and become members if you aren't already! The congregational BoD will provide the hot dogs and hamburgers and the Religious School board will provide entertainment (and answers to any questions you have about religious school). In order to keep our picnic delicious and diverse, we ask that every family also bring something they'd feel remiss without, and enough of it to share. We recommend if your last name begins with an A-I, please bring drinks If your last name begins with an J-Q please bring sides If your last name begins with a R-Z please bring desserts. Thank you! -

Wednesday, Aug 31st 10:30a to 11:30a
We will meet on August 31 at 10 AM on Zoom to discuss this month's read: Maggie Anton's The Choice. From Goodreads: A powerful love story with a purpose: to challenge Jewish customs concerning women, marriage, and equality. The award-winning author of "Rashi's Daughters," Maggie Anton, has written a wholly transformative novel that takes characters inspired by Chaim Potok and ages them into young adults in Brooklyn in the 1950s, a time of Elvis & Marilyn, communist scares & polio vaccines, Jewish migration & American integration. When Hannah Eisin, a successful journalist, interviews Rabbi Nathan Mandel, a controversial Talmud professor, she persuades him to teach her the mysteries of the text forbidden to women—even though it might cost him his job if discovered. Secret meetings and lively discussions bring the two to the edge of a line that neither dares to cross, as their relationships with each other and Judaism are tested. -
