Dues Adjustment Form

Dear Members,

Everyone is welcome and truly belongs at Congregation Ner Shalom, regardless of financial circumstances.

We ask all members to support the Shul by paying dues and have an adjustment process in place to assist members who are unable to pay the full amount. To be equitable to all members, our approach is designed to provide the assistance appropriate for each member. Please complete this form in its entirety, so that we can determine your fair contribution.

We have an annual operating budget of $200,000 for all services provided by our synagogue. We have multiple revenue streams to offset those costs, but the most significant component of that revenue comes from our annual dues. To help control our operating expenses, we ask those receiving financial assistance to make a definitive commitment to volunteer time to the Synagogue, within a large number of areas of interest and skills.

The data you furnish on this form will be kept completely confidential, known only to the dues relief committee, which consists of our Treasurer, President, and Rabbi.

You are welcome to request a meeting with the Treasurer, if you wish to discuss your dues adjustment application. Once your request has been submitted/discussed, please allow 10 days for a decision to be made and a revised bill to be sent out.

We strongly encourage those families requesting Dues Adjustment to give back to the community.

For more information on how to get involved, please contact the VP of membership or the Shul office.

All members of the shul are asked to participate in the annual clean up, and to sponsor at least one Oneg after our weekly services, providing the wine, challah, and treats for Oneg, and by doing set-up and clean-up before and after, or by hiring Sisterhood to provide the necessary support. This is a shared duty, and you will have another Oneg family partner with you, and be honored with an aliyah during services for your service to the synagogue.

There are a number of volunteer opportunities beyond what every member is expected to do, depending on your skill set and interests, and being part of our greeter corps is one of those opportunities that requires very little effort. We need you for two 30-minute shifts once a year on Shabbat to assist our board members in welcoming guests, or our religious school teachers on Sundays during religious school to keep our kids safe by ensuring no unwanted guests enter. If you are willing and able, providing support to the religious school teachers as an alternate or a helper is another wonderful way to contribute, and arriving early or late for special events, holidays, and seders to assist is always appreciated. If you are looking for an invitation to do something, consider this your invitation. If you have other ideas on how to help, please share those with the VP of Membership, or any other member of the board.

An opportunity to give of my time and talents for the Jewish community.

Thank you for your cooperation, and playing your part in our shul.
